Grace

As a dancer, I have long had an interest in the human body as a machine of many interlocking parts, capable of moving with grace and beauty. It is easy to capture a sense of motion by portraying dancers spinning and leaping, literally soaring through the air. But it is also possible to capture an implied sense of a body in motion with figures such as Grace. Her upper leg turns sharply in one direction while her head and lower leg turn in another through the long spiral that animates her entire body. Charcoal 32” x 40”
